Dolores Romick Sussmann Martin
October 5, 1922 - June 9, 2005.

 Dolores Romick Sussman Martin was the eldest daughter of Pearl "Grandma" Romick.  She was the last of the Romick siblings of her generation to return to the Ohio Valley.

She survived two husbands, Johnny Sussman and Jack Martin.  She had no children of her own, but she loved her many nieces and nephews.

Dolores was born and died in Martins Ferry but also lived a great deal of her life in the Northeast, including Washington, DC, the metro New York City area, and New Hampshire.  Her official obituary is below.

 

Dolores J. Romick Sussmann Martin, 82, of Virginia Street, Martins Ferry, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling.
 
She was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Martins Ferry, a daughter of the late William R. and Pearl V. Crooks Romick. 

She was retired from the Givaudan Corp. in Clifton, N.Y., and a member of the First Baptist Church, Martins Ferry. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John J. Sussmann; her second husband, John C. Martin; two brothers, Raymond and William Romick; and a sister, Shirley Romick.
 
Surviving are a stepson, John J. Martin; a stepdaughter, Frances (Peter) Howell; two brothers, the Rev. Robert J. Romick of Wheeling and Harold G. Romick of Shadyside; two sisters, Phyllis L. Ogden and Margaret A. Romick, both of Martins Ferry; and four step grandchildren.
